Life Lately

If you've been wondering whether I've dropped off the face of the planet - I haven't, lol. Here are a few quick pics of Midwood, Brooklyn, which is half-way between my neighborhood and Coney Island.
I love Springtime!

I didn't notice the rocking horse til after the photo was taken

Photo of the Week - Coney Island Amusement Park

Well, I know you've been seeing a lot of Coney Island lately, but I just couldn't help myself with this one. After watching an old 'Seinfeld' rerun in which Jerry tries his darndest to convince George, Elaine, and Kramer to accompany him to Coney Island to get his car, I could not resist. Jerry ends up befriending a random guy on the subway and they take off riding the Cyclone..he never does get his car, lol.

Anyway, here it is :-p

Photo of the Week - Nathan's World Famous..., Coney Island

In this shot I'm reminded once again that despite being vegetarian, hot dogs are actually something I miss like crazy.

Taken over the summer on Coney Island here is Nathan's.

Photo of the Week - Coney Island Wonder Wheel

My apologies for vacating the wonderful world of blogosphere!! With a new job and hitting the gym every evening my creative juices haven't really been flowing much, I'm ashamed to say.

Anyway, many moons ago (ok, ok not that many moons ago - September, perhaps) my friend and I paid our respects to one of our favorite spots in Brooklyn - Coney Island. One of the famous sights of Coney Island is none other than the Wonder Wheel ferris wheel. Due to my fear of heights, I would have been fine taking it in from the ground, However, after much convincing by my chum, we clammered into one of the little cars. Good thing - for we got some awesome shots.

Here's one of them :-)

Different Worlds

Recently I've made some friends in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn which is in the southern part of the borough and close to Coney Island. I was able to head down there this week. My friend Chardonnay and I also took an afternoon jaunt into Manhattan on Wednesday to visit the MoMa.

I couldn't help but notice the striking difference between the two areas. Bensonhurst resembles a small town while it seems most are blue-collar workers. People seem to be very family oriented, as well. Many of the homes actually have front gardens - something I haven't seen in a long time. Needless to say, I adore it. :-)

Manhattan, on the other hand, is concrete, fast-paced, with many white-collars. It's fun to spend a day there exploring, and many of my friends love it. I, however, would much rather come back to my Brooklyn.

Vintage Coney Island

Well, I believe this about does for Coney Island. It's probably getting a bit redundant for you, so thought I'd liven things up with doing a vintage touch-up to the photos.

Enjoy!

Not sure why I was so enthralled with this - perhaps the amount of bad-assity contained on one street corner. Notice the guy on the bike to the far left.

We were like kids in a candy shop, lol ;-)

A favorite!

We ended the evening at a local pub :-)

Here are a few other photos worthy of sharing from our little excursion last week.

We've fallen in love with Coney Island and have decided to set up a little shop there next summer.

Hope you enjoy!

Ode to Summer - Coney Island Adventure

In a farewell to summer, my friend, Jenny, and I packed our bags and headed down to Coney Island last weekend. It was all we had expected and more as you'll see from the photos. :-)
